Getting a Library Card

Visit the library to apply for your library card. You will need to present your valid photo identification card (ID) and proof of current mailing address. If you're under 18, you will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. You can apply online for a limited access library card. For full access, please visit the library.

Using Your Library Card

  • Cardholders are responsible for all materials checked out on their or their child's cards.
  • Library cards are good at all Black Gold library branches.
  • Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately.
  • Up to 20 items may be checked out on a library card.

Holds / Reserves

You may search for and place a hold on materials by using the online library catalog. Each library card is limited to 10 holds. You will be notified by email, telephone, text message, or printed notice when the item you ordered is in. Items on hold are held for 7 business days.

Inter-Library Loan

Items not available through the Black Gold Cooperative Library System may be requested through Inter-library loan. These items check out for 3 weeks but cannot be renewed online or over the telephone. They must be brought in at the end of their check out period. There is a minimum fee of $2 for this service.

Confidentiality

  • A library card or valid government-issued photo ID is required to access library accounts. (For users under 18, this can be school issued ID.)
  • Parents/guardians may only access their child's account information when the child is present or his or her card/card number is presented.

Internet Only Cards

Internet only cards are available for adults 18 years of age or older. Proof of address and a valid photo ID are not required for this card. Internet only cards provide adult users with access to the library’s public internet computers only and can not be used to check out materials.
